Cognitive Radio and green communications: power consumption consideration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Green Cognitive Radio (GCR) is a Cognitive Radio, which is aware of sustainable development and takes it as an additional constraint in the decision making function of the cognitive cycle. In this paper, we remind the Cognitive Radio concept, and then explain how the sensors distributed within the three layers of our model help to reach GCR. The use of these sensors, so as to make the correct decision and to comply with the sustainable development constraints, is explained through two examples related to power consumption

Cognitive Wireless Sensor Networks Framework for Green Communications Design
Cognitive Wireless Sensor Networks is an emerging technology with great potential to avoid traditional wireless problems such as reliability, interferences and spectrum scarcity. Because of the Wireless Sensor Network fast growth and the use of batteries, current rate of power consumption per unit of data cannot be sustained. Therefore, one of the major challenges face today is low power consum...
متن کاملAdaptive power control algorithm in cognitive radio based on game theory
Cognitive radio (CR) has achieved increasing attention to improve the spectrum utilisation by allowing the coexistence of primary users (PUs) and cognitive users (CUs) in the same frequency band. As the spectrum of interest is licenced to primary network, power control must be carried out within the CR system so that no excessive interference is caused to PUs. In this study, the problem of powe...
متن کاملHybrid Modelling, Power Management and Stabilization of Cognitive Radio Networks
In this paper, we deal with hybrid modelling, optimal control and stability in cognitive radio networks. Networks that are based on cognitive radio communications are intelligent wireless communication systems. They are conscious about changes in the environment and are able to react in order to achieve an optimal utilization of the radio resources. We provide a general hybrid model of a networ...
متن کاملStudy on Power Control in the Cognitive AD HOC Self-organizing Network
Nodes in ad hoc networks form dynamic topologies typically with scarce resources, such as energy and bandwidth. A main challenge in the operation of such networks is the efficient allocation of resources for radio communications. In this context, the presented paper proposes a power control mechanism created as a network-assisted function of ad hoc cognitive packet-based routing and aimed at re...
متن کاملCognitive Radio Programming Survey
Cognitive radio is based on Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology. The commercial success of smart radio applications and cognitive radio networks will be very dependent on cost, performance, and power consumption of SDR hardware platforms. SDR hardware is now available, but many issues have yet to be studied. In this chapter, the authors detail the constraints imposed by recent radio protoco...
